Butterfly Chair Model Kit
Launch your own Miniature Design Museum, starting with this 1:16 scale paper model of the iconic Butterfly Chair. Cut out and construct your first Ercolani acquisition, to display within its complementary paper interior. The diorama also looks wowsers set within a vitrine. Designed by Lucian Ercolani for Ercol in 1957 and originally made from beech and elm-veneered plywood, the Butterfly chair took inspiration from the traditional Windsor chair and adapted it for mass production. Launched to the public in 1958, the chair achieved popularity, but was dropped from the range by the 1980’s. In 2002, Margaret Howell was instrumental in reviving the chair and it is still in production today. The paper kit has been designed by Tomoko Azumi and printed by the Fukunaga Shiko paper fabricator in West Tokyo.
